Non-Profit Organizations
A “non-profit” is an organization that is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the federal tax code. To qualify for tax-exempt status, the entity must have been organized and operated for:
- Religious purposes
- Charitable purposes
- Scientific purposes
- Testing for public safety
- Literary purposes
- Educational purposes
- To foster national or international amateur sports competition
- The prevention of cruelty to children or animals
Non-profit organizations must meet additional criteria to qualify under 501(c)(3), so it is very important to consult a lawyer during every step of the startup process. The Khaled Law Firm provides personal, one-on-one consultation and preparation of all documents, applications and attachments. We also provide direct IRS representation. Tax Attorney Julia Childress Khaled represents several 501(c)(3) organizations as well as other organizations exempt from tax under 501(c).
Being mindful that the tax exempt application process is generally done for philanthropic reasons, the Khaled Law Firm’s fees are reasonable. Whether you want us to stand by you through every step or give you the tools to complete as much of the process on your own as possible, our main focus is meeting your needs while working within your budget.
