Ben moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina in 2004, from Brooklyn, New York. He met the love of his life, Julia Khaled, who encouraged him to come enjoy a slower pace of life in South Carolina. He and Julia have three children (Joseph, Ava Grace, and Jacob) as well as Berlin, a mini-golden doodle. He and his family have lived in Rock Hill for over 20 years, and call Rock Hill home. The accent you hear comes from his culturally rich background. He grew up in a third world country in Africa, immigrated on his own as a determined teenager to Canada to obtain his college degree. He entered into the United States with $35.00, a razor, a towel, two changes of clothes, all housed in a single bookbag. He hit the streets going from business to business asking for a job. He soon found employment, so much so that he worked three jobs while getting his Associate’s Degree at Touro College in Manhattan. He would sleep on the ferry to and from work and school. He was set to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Staten Island soon after meeting Julia. They instead agreed South Carolina was the place to start their marriage and family life. That left Ben with the option of enrolling in Winthrop to finish his degree. Although he only needed 2 classes to complete his degree, Winthrop required that he obtain 30 hours in order to graduate. This allowed him to explore his love of strategy planning, math, and making all things connect. He graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He loves working out, all things finance, camping, learning more, and more and more! When he is able to break away, he loves to enjoy great local restaurants or experience one of the many activities that make South Carolina great.
